Milky Mama XO

Meet the passionate momma behind Milky Mama XO and what that’s all about!

  1. Firstly, please tell us about yourself!

Hi! My name is Lexi. I’m a stay at home mom from Columbus, Ohio. I’m happily married & have a five-month-old son. My website is www.milkymamaxo.wordpress.com

  1. What is Milky Mama XO all about?

Milky Mama XO is all about motherhood, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, marriage with children, miscarriage/infant loss, life as a stay at home mom, and whatever else is on my mind each day.

  1. What inspired you to start Milky Mama XO?

I originally wanted to start blogging after I had a miscarriage two years ago. I wanted to share my story as a way to let other women know they weren’t alone in what they were experiencing. For so long afterward, I felt like I was the only one to ever go through it, which made me feel even worse. Why was everyone else having healthy pregnancies and I couldn’t? I was shocked to learn the statistics of miscarriage because they are alarmingly common. Yet, I had never met a single person who had lost a child. Or so I thought. When I finally started speaking up about mine, so many other women came to me and shared stories of their losses. Just like me, they said they felt too ashamed to tell people because they thought no one would understand. Since then, I’ve had a healthy full-term pregnancy, given birth & now have a five-month-old. Pregnancy, childbirth & motherhood is full of so many interesting surprises and can be so wonderfully difficult at times. Sooo many other things have happened that I want to write about to again, let other people know they are not alone in what they’re going through!

  1. What type of articles does Milky Mama XO focus on?

I’m a huge reader so I love that the blog world has become so popular because it’s such a great way to share personal stories and experiences with others who are searching for something to relate to. However, there are still so many important things that just aren’t being talked about enough (like how difficult it can be to grieve after a miscarriage, postpartum depression/anxiety/psychosis, how your marriage can change drastically once baby comes and much more). These are the things I’m writing about.

And even not so important things that just aren’t as widely spoken about. For example, my first post, “It’s a…” describes the disappointment I felt when I found out I was having a boy, after preparing for and really wanting a girl. I felt like a monster and thought surely no other mom had ever felt that way. I was too embarrassed to tell anyone. I eventually found out that many moms experience this but also felt like they were all alone and too embarrassed to admit their feelings. So I wrote about it.

— Note from Milky Mama Lexi!

I’ve recently started talking with some baby-friendly companies and other mommy bloggers about doing some product reviews and giveaways for my readers which I’m super excited about! I’m a protective mama bear & thoroughly read reviews before purchasing something for my little one. So I’m really excited to help other mom’s like me, in finding products they can trust.
